A Hangover at the Hangover Suite in Las Vegas1/12/2011
I recently returned from a short 3 day trip from Las Vegas, Nevada to attend a conference and host an event at “The Hangover Suite”. Located in the luxurious Caesars Palace, the suite inspires a great atmosphere for networking and good times for the event I co-hosted at Affiliate Summit West 2011.
The suite is actually based on the smash-hit movie “The Hangover” and the actual one used in the Academy Award winning movie “Rainman”. The suite is big, 3500 sq. feet big! I find it overkill for anyone to spend a few nights in Vegas here. However, for events, its perfect!
Our event took place on Sunday, Jan 9th, on Day 1 of Affiliate Summit West 2011. Affiliate Summit is one big party fest where internet marketers crawl out of their virtual caverns for a few days of exchanging ideas and putting names to faces.
The purpose of The Mailer Meetup was to connect email marketers (No Spammers Here!) in one room for networking opportunities.
The purpose of this blog is to talk about travel, and my experiences exploring the world. The readers gain insight and knowledge from tried and true travel techniques. There are certain times where I do mix business with pleasure. This is one of those instances.
The room itself was jaw dropping. I walked into a two-story suite filled with plush couches, surrounded by flat screen TVs, and a magnificent chandelier suspended from the ceiling like a sparkling, frozen jellyfish.
Here’s the view from the entrance. All photos taken pre-party.
I had about 45 minutes to explore the vast contents of the room before party planning began. We offered free drinks and catering to our guests along with various other goodies from our sponsor, RoboMail. I knew that this would be the best chance to go exploring.
Below is a quick video tour of the suite. As your tour guide I recommend paying close attention to the amount to the booze and flat screen TVs in every room. We had about 150 attendees at the event.
I loved how the layout provided oppurtunites for easy one on one conversations. The various couches created a relaxed atmosphere where new ideas and email practices could be exchanged. I kept the bedrooms open to provide a more intimate setting where serious business was conducted.
I volunteered to help with the cleanup process, thus giving me the excuse needed to stay overnight in the grand suite. I ended up surprised at how little work I had to do. Most people cleaned up after themselves leaving me the responsibility of sorting through the opened and unopened beverages.
The event itself went really well. Guests provided me with enough positive feedback to call it a success. Our goal was achieved and I slept that night with a big smile on my face.
The next morning my personal goal for the night was accomplished! I woke up with a sleight hangover at The Hangover Suite! I really did not drink that much as I wanted to ensure guests that their host wasn’t a sloppy drunk from Texas. Oh ya and I did get TON of business done.
For the sake of not writing a very large concluding paragraph, I’ll call the entire experience a rousing SUCCESS!
