What is Golden Book Traveler about?

You might have had an idea of what Golden Book Traveler is about based on the theme of my page and the word “traveler” in my domain name. Yes this is a travel blog, a travel blog with a twist. In 2010 I will be traveling all over Europe and other destinations for around 3 months. The exact locations are still being organized, but I know for sure that when 2010 rolls around that I will be off to Europe.

The “golden book” part of the name represents the twist in my travels, my niche so to speak. The golden book itself is a 10 page pamphlet published by Dale Carnegie Training that lists out different principles to live a full life of joy, peace, and happiness. I’ll have a bunch of these golden books to carry with me on my travels. Speaking of Dale Carnegie Training, I’ll be visiting several different locations around the world on my travels. Dale Carnegie Training is located in over 80 different countries worldwide and my goal is to visit these locations pending approval from the franchisee owners. Dale Carnegie Training is not affiliated with me or anything I am doing with this blog…yet.

How did you come up with the idea?

Ever since the beginning of the year my travel bug grew stronger and stronger until one day it became so strong I had to do something about it. I have never been to Europe and have always wanted to go. I then thought of places I’d like to visit and what to do. I spent a few minutes brainstorming and thought of the Dale Carnegie/Travel niche. I worked at Dale Carnegie of Austin for close to 6 months in late 2007 and early 2008. Afterward, I continued my role as a Graduate Assistant for the Sales Advantage and Dale Training courses up until now. I quickly realized that many of the places I wanted to visit have Dale Carnegie franchises there. My end goal is to time my trip so that I can visit a Dale Carnegie session in each travel destination. Oh ya and I’d like to be fully sponsored. loftly goals I know but I am determined to make it happen!

What is the purpose of this blog?

There are a few reasons why I started this blog. The 1st being a way of logging my travels and building a community around it. The 2nd is to provide a resource for other travelers. I have years of experience in the internet marketing field and wanted to leverage it while I traveled. The great thing aqbout this blog is I can update it from almost anywhere. This gives me the opportunity to really connect with my core audience while I am away.

Where and When am I traveling?

I can answer the when part pretty confidently. I plan on traveling sometime between January to March 2010. This will definitely be the off season for travelers. The reason why I choose these months is to get as much raw experience of the countries I will be visiting as possible. The where is a little bit more difficult to answer. That really depends on the timing and who wants me to visit from the Dale Carnegie franchisee locations. In an ideal scenario I’d be visiting one class a week and staying in the country between 3 – 7 days.
